you can turn off video, voice, or screen share, either globally or for one specific friend, and set quiet hours in their timezone. it's all enforced on the server, so it can't be disabled on the device. parents control what their kid can DO, we NEVER show parents what their kid says.

full privacy. no compromises.
we will never sell any of your data, view any of your data, or track you. we may see metadata of reported messages and media for moderation purposes, and nothing else.
we don't run ads, we don't sell to data brokers, and we will never train AI on your chats. sodalite runs on donations, that's the whole business.
we do moderation and encryption in the same app, which basically nobody else does. signal won't filter your messages, whatsapp won't either. your messages stay private to you and whoever you're talking to, but slurs and threats still get caught on the way through.

sodalite runs on donations from people who use it. no ads, no investors waiting for an exit, no data sold to anyone. every feature is free for everyone, and that's not going to change.
donating gets you a customizable badge on your profile and a spot on the donator leaderboard. it doesn't unlock anything, because nothing is gated behind it.

are my messages encrypted?
yes. every message is encrypted with your recipient's personal key before it's stored. only their device can decrypt. there is a portion of time (if filtering is enabled) where your devices will send the raw text to the server for filtering purposes. after that, everything gets encrypted. therefore, if there was a data breach (from cloudflare) still nobody would see your messages.

why passwordless?
we use one-time codes by phone or email. no password to leak, reuse, or phish. you can revoke any session from the app.

who can read my messages?
just you and the recipient. messages get a quick safety scan as they pass through, but no readable copy is kept. a human moderator only sees a message if you or someone else explicitly reports it. not us, not advertisers, not law enforcement without your involvement.

do you sell my data or run ads?
no. and no. we don't have an ads business and we never will. the app is free; donations from users keep app running.

can my kid bypass parental controls?
no. every filter check runs on the server. they can't disable it from their device, and even if they could, messages are entirely blocked by the server, not by the device.

no. we believe ai should be a tool, not a replacement. sodalite is designed with claude for ideas and examples, but we would never explicitly use code generated by ai. all code has been modified by a human after claude made a templated design. we believe in keeping humans coding, not replacing it with ai.
